There have been a number of programs and downloads that supposedly remedy the CPU whine problem found in the MacBook and MacBook Pro
- note that some of these programs will cause battery life to decrease slightly. The reason for the whine is a low power CPU idle, so running one of these programs will cause the CPU idle to slightly increase, effectively eliminating the whine...

Photobooth
Launch the included Photobooth application, for whatever reason the cpu whine usually stops when Photobooth is running - likely the usage of 'idle' cpu.
